About

Hi, I’m Dr. Su Yeon Lee-Tauler—a wife, a homeschooling Korean-American mama of three little ones (with our baby girl joining us in 2026), and a woman of faith.

I’m a public health researcher specializing in suicide prevention and mental health. My work has taken me into military, immigrant and refugee, and faith communities—listening to stories, studying patterns, and asking a question that has guided my entire life:

How do people find meaning, connection, and hope in places that feel broken?

As a 1.5-generation Korean immigrant, my life has always been shaped by culture, history, and adaptation to change. As a mother, I now carry those threads forward while raising children who move between worlds—Korean and American, traditional and modern, familiar and new. As a follower of Christ, I wrestle with how faith speaks into suffering, identity, motherhood, and the quiet spaces of ordinary life.

On Korean Mama’s Heart Record, I write about all of these things—
the stories that formed me,
the joys and confusions of motherhood,
the beauty and complexity of Korean heritage,
the challenges of raising a neurodivergent child,
and the deep human need for belonging, healing, and hope.

My reflections come from the intersection of research, faith, and lived experience. I write because I believe stories can hold us together—across generations, cultures, and the lonely corners of life.

I pray that something here helps you feel a little less alone, a little more seen, and perhaps more grounded in purpose, meaning, connection, and love.
